Web Layout Design using Inkscape

The most talked  about vector illustration app in open-source community and beyond, the well-known Inkscape. There is no dilemma in using this open-source and free application for Graphic Design work. This latest version of Inkscape is very-very nice and workable.

Inkscape: An Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format.

I did some short testing as I do always in graphic design apps from open-source and free software (GNU/Linux) oriented apps, and today I was very rhapsodic from Inkscape. The UI is very improved than it was in the older versions, this app is fast and furious, the original shortcuts for zoom in/out, the use of the scroll combined with Shift/Ctrl/Alt are great job and the color pallet is very easy to use. This version “Stable release Inkscape 0.47″ I used this time, is very stable in every way. For testing purposes I designed this web layout and saved it as SVG, so everyone can download it and do whatever you want with it, or even learn from it. Just to remind you that SVG can be opened in Illustrator, Corel Draw and other vector graphics editors, not losing a bit from the original design.

[note: I did this layout in about 30-50 min]
