Once all self drive cars are replaced cars could get a little lighter, but probably not much. Driving bumper to bumper doesn’t make them more efficient, not having to stop and slow down does. You would certainly gain some efficiency by having cars not stop at intersections or slow down when someone ahead decided to slow down for a turn without signalling.
